Senator Roy Blunt, Missouri, indicated his desire to save and preserve this bridge. The Gasconade River Bridge is one of only 3 mixed through truss bridges on the entire Route 66. In the case of the Gasconade bridge, it contains all three: more than one design with its through trusses as well as a pony truss. Additionally, Route 66 fans from all over the world are pleading with the Route 66 Gasconade River Bridge Guardians to make efforts to re-open this bridge and reconnect Route 66.
